_nurse-lost-8st-and-swapped-xl-sized-scrubs-for-a-small-by-walking-10000-steps-a-day.webp "A nurse swapped her XL sized scrubs for a small after shredding seven stone by walking 10,000 steps a day.<br/><br/>Samantha Abreu, 25, says she has always struggled with her weight and weighed 18st 1lb and was a size 22 at her heaviest.<br/><br/>She would often binge eat – filling up on toast and cereal after dinners – and hated exercise.<br/><br/>Samanatha struggled to get through her 10 hour nursing shifts due to exhaustion.<br/><br/>She worried she would end up like some of the elderly patients she saw who couldn’t get up after a fall.<br/><br/>During lockdown she started going for daily walks for her mental health and realised the exercise was a “blessing” for her mindset and body.<br/><br/>Slowly she started intuitively eating, decreasing her portions and dropped 7st 6lbs in a year.<br/><br/>Now a healthy 10st 9lbs and a size eight Samantha walks 10,000 steps a day, goes to the gym four days a week and feels “safe” in her body.<br/><br/>Samantha, a nurse, from Melbourne, Australia, said: “I worried about being old and not being able to get up after a fall.<br/><br/>“Growing up I always felt insecure.<br/><br/>“I couldn’t envision a future for myself.<br/><br/>“As I lost weight I still found myself reaching for XL scrubs but they started to feel too baggy and would get in the way.<br/><br/>“Now I feel comfortable and safe in my body.<br/><br/>\")

_teen-with-one-of-world39s-rarest-brain-conditions-fulfils-dream-of-scoring-a-goal-for-his-football-team.webp "This is the heartwarming moment a severely disabled teenager fulfils his dream of scoring a goal for his beloved football team.<br/><br/>Brandon Cooper, 17, bravely stepped up in the last minute to take a penalty for non-league Ilkeston Town FC.<br/><br/>The teenager is one of only 150 people worldwide to suffer from hydroxyglutaric aciduria, a condition that causes progressive brain damage.<br/><br/>Despite his disability, Brandon has been a lifetime supporter of Ilkeston Town FC, who are currently 15th in the Non League Premier League.<br/><br/>Last Sunday (10/3) Brandon was guest of honour for the annual Fans v Legends match at the club's New Manor Ground in the Derbyshire town.<br/><br/>In the final minute of the game, Ilkeston won a penalty and Brandon was called onto the pitch to take it with the help of a teammate.<br/><br/>Video shows Brandon slot the ball into the bottom right hand corner after the goalkeeper dived the wrong way.<br/><br/>The inspiring teenager was then mobbed by his teammates at the final whistle of the game which Brandon's team won 13-3.<br/><br/>His foster mum Maggie White, 68, said: “Brandon absolutely loves Ilkeston Town and rarely misses a game home or away.<br/><br/>\")
