_world-famous-paintings-reimagined-for-marie-curie-charitys-great-daffodil-appeal.webp "World-famous paintings have been reimagined at a first of its kind exhibition that launches this week, featuring Marie Curie nursing team members, including a healthcare assistant from Wales for the charity’s Great Daffodil Appeal.<br/><br/>The exhibition displays a series of classic artworks depicting the end of life by artists including Edvard Munch and Ary Scheffer, which have been reimagined to feature real life Marie Curie Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. <br/><br/>The artworks were commissioned by the UK’s leading end of life charity Marie Curie as part of its Great Daffodil Appeal.<br/>The nursing team members are depicted in the paintings, alongside the charity’s famous daffodil, providing care and support to the dying and those close to them. The images serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of end of life care, as currently one in four people don’t get the end of life care they need. <br/><br/>The charity – which provides expert end of life care for people with any illness they are likely to die from – has commissioned British artist Lisa Buchanan, also known as Dangerosa, to create The Daffodil Collection. <br/><br/>Buchanan has assisted Damien Hirst, Lakwena and Sir Michael Craig-Martin, and used to work for Marie Curie for several years.<br/><br/>Four real life Marie Curie Nursing team members and a healthcare assistant feature in the scenes. <br/><br/>The paintings will be on display to visitors for one day only in a special new exhibition at a Mayfair Gallery at 56 Conduit Street this Thursday, March 14. <br/>Following the London exhibition the paintings will be auctioned off.")
_jason-rhoades-drive-92-hauser-amp-wirth-los-angeles.webp "Jason Rhoades saw the car as a means of artistic expression, viewing it as both a pre-made sculpture and an emblem of American culture. Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles is dedicating a whole gallery at its Downtown Arts District site to a yearlong examination of Rhoades’ art through the lens of cars and car culture. Named ‘DRIVE,’ this exhibition will evolve through various themes, showcasing Rhoades’ sculptures, drawings, videos, and other works, alongside historical materials, public events, and modern interpretations.<br/><br/>DRIVE opens with The Parking Space, featuring a Chevrolet Caprice and Impala, a Ferrari 328 GTS and a Ligier microcar, parked in the gallery alongside a video in which Rhoades talks about his Car Projects. In April, the installation will undergo a transformation to include a lounge area, morphing into what is known as The Pit. A significant influx of historical materials will play a crucial role in delving into the different phases of Rhoades’ Car Projects. As summer approaches, the exhibition’s focus will shift towards The Racetrack. This section will feature a collection of half-scale NASCAR-style cars, custom jackets, and vibrantly painted tire barriers, remnants from ‘The Snowball.’ Originally staged as a daylong racing spectacle at Willow Springs Speedway in California, ‘The Snowball’ was ultimately intended for display at the 2000 Venice Biennale and as part of Rhoades’ collaborative project for the Danish Pavilion. Finally, in September, The Garage will mark the culmination of ‘DRIVE’ with a curated selection of framed paper works and a significant sculptural installation.<br/><br/>Jason Rhoades: Drive / Hauser & Wirth Downtown Los Angeles.
